Near-Record Heat Headed for Nashville

Unseasonably warm weather is set to push Nashville temperatures into the 70s this week, running 15 to 20 degrees above average.

Forecasters say Thursday will be the warmest day with a projected high of 75 degrees, a figure that still runs shy of the Feb. 23 record of 85 set in 2023.

Meteorologists note wide swings are common in February, though the springlike stretch will be among the warmest of the year so far.

The mild, balmy weather pattern follows a weekend of heavy rain across parts of Middle Tennessee.

Knox WWII Hero to Get Medal

Master Sgt. Roddie Edmonds of South Knoxville will be awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously for defying Nazi captors during World War II, President Trump told his family in a recent call.

Captured during the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944, Edmonds refused an order to identify Jewish American soldiers at a German POW camp, telling a commander, “We are all Jews here.”

Edmonds, who died in 1985, never spoke publicly about the act of heroism credited with saving nearly 200 lives.

His recognition follows years of advocacy by his family and earlier honors from Israel for his actions during the Holocaust.

Sevier Runner Conquers 7 Continents

Sevier County’s Dawn Doucette completed the World Marathon Challenge, running seven marathons on seven continents in seven consecutive days and placing third among women.

The grueling event began in Antarctica and included stops in South Africa, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Spain, Brazil, and Miami, covering 183 miles.

Doucette logged more than 29 hours of running, with even more time spent on planes between races.

The longtime distance runner, who has completed more than 80 marathons, says she’s already eyeing her next challenge: a trek to Everest Base Camp.
