Article Icon 13 Governor Candidates Debate at MTSU

Democrat Jerri Green and independents David Hatley and Lauren Pinkston debated at Middle Tennessee State University Tuesday night, while Republican nominee Marsha Blackburn held a rally in Hendersonville.

At the debate, the candidates criticized the state’s school voucher program and used their closing arguments to discuss housing affordability, child care, data centers, and tax policy.

They split on Medicaid expansion and library oversight, with Green and Pinkston opposing book bans while Hatley backed state intervention in library content.

Blackburn turned down Green’s offers of four head-to-head debates. Early voting ends today ahead of Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Gov. Bill Lee announced Tennessee will pursue the U.S. Space Academy, a campus President Trump created by executive order in August to train future astronauts, engineers, scientists, and other space workers.

The state’s proposal centers on the Coffee County Joint Industrial Park in the Tennessee Valley Aerospace Corridor, near Arnold Air Force Base.

Sens. Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty and Reps. Matt Van Epps and Scott DesJarlais back the bid, with Blackburn calling Tennessee “the natural home” for the academy.

Tennessee faces stiff competition, with Alabama, Ohio, Texas, Arizona, and West Virginia also making pitches.

Country singer Jillian Cardarelli made her Grand Ole Opry debut at the 18th annual Opry Goes Pink on Tuesday, months after being diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer at 33.

She was diagnosed in May, spent much of the summer in treatment at Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and told the crowd she is now cancer-free.

She closed her set with Happily Even After, a song she wrote before her diagnosis that took on new meaning after her treatment.

“You are the CEO of your own health,” she told the crowd, urging women to know their bodies, as the annual show raised money for Susan G. Komen.

That scam call wasn’t random.

Scammers don’t just guess your number. They buy personal information from data brokers—companies selling your phone number, home address, relatives’ info, and more online.

That’s how a random scam call can turn into phishing, impersonation, identity theft—or someone knowing more about you than they should.

That’s why we recommend Incogni. It removes your personal information from these databases and keeps removing it automatically.
