Article Icon 1AG Says He Won’t Defend Sanctuary Vote Law

Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti says he won’t defend a new law that makes it a felony for local officials to vote in favor of sanctuary city policies.

Nashville council members are legally challenging the legislation, which passed in January, arguing that it violates free speech.

Skrmetti said the Constitution entitles lawmakers to legislative immunity, including at the local level, and therefore he would not defend the law in court.

Some leaders have vowed to find other ways to block sanctuary policies without violating the Constitution.

Article Icon 1High School Coach Punished for Reading Bible

A Clarksville high school football coach, Trey Campbell, was removed from a Friday night game after administrators accused him of “proselytizing” by reading his Bible.

Witnesses said Campbell was privately reading Scripture at halftime and responded to others who approached him, explaining that “he’s never going to deny spreading the word of God.”

Parents and students are defending Campbell, who was tearfully escorted from the game by a police officer after school officials told him to “put his Bible down” or leave.

Students brought their own Bibles to class on Monday in a show of support for the coach, who also works as a school resource officer and has been placed on paid leave

Article Icon 1Tennessee Lauded as Fall Foliage Destination

Travel + Leisure asked tourism pros where to find the best U.S. fall foliage in 2025, and the consensus was Tennessee.

The Smoky Mountains topped the list of best fall spots in the state for its fiery colors and wildlife, while Nashville drew praise for its music, food, and crisp autumn energy.

Scenic drives like the Natchez Trace Parkway, and small towns such as Leiper’s Fork and Townsend add to the Volunteer State’s fall charm.

Experts say the mix of scenery, festivals, and Southern hospitality makes Tennessee a standout autumn getaway.
