Article Icon 1Family Survives Tornado Destruction

An EF1 tornado tore through the Bonnertown area late Sunday night, damaging at least 10 homes, toppling trees, and pushing several structures off their foundations. See photos of the damage here.

One family survived after sheltering in an underground bunker. The storm shelter was the only structure left standing on their property.

The storm hit around 11 p.m., with winds strong enough to toss a newly delivered mobile home into a pond and leave widespread debris.

No deaths or serious injuries were reported as crews and volunteers began cleanup efforts across the hard-hit community.

Article Icon 1Trump Pushes TVA Pay Cap

President Trump signed a memorandum urging the Tennessee Valley Authority to cap total employee compensation at $500,000, citing concerns over executive pay exceeding public-sector norms.

The proposal would cover all earnings, including salary, bonuses, and incentives, and comes as some TVA executives have earned millions annually.

TVA’s board said it is reviewing the request, with 90 days to decide and 120 days to outline compliance if adopted. The cap would cut CEO Don Moul’s salary in half.

The move aims to rein in federally backed salaries and address what the memo calls a hit to public trust.

Article Icon 1Young Angler Wins Bassmaster Classic

Dylan Nutt, a 22-year-old former Sale Creek High School angler, won the 2026 Bassmaster Classic on the Tennessee River, earning $300,000 and beating the field by more than 9 pounds.

Nutt, a B.A.S.S. Nation qualifier and University of North Alabama senior, posted a three-day total of 66 pounds, 13 ounces after extensive pre-tournament preparation on local waters.

He became just the ninth angler to win the Classic in his first appearance and one of the youngest champions in event history.

The hometown-region victory drew a strong crowd and highlighted a rare path from amateur ranks to the sport’s top prize.

Unknown Number Calling? It’s Not Random

The BBC caught scam call center workers on hidden cameras as they laughed at the people they were tricking. One worker bragged about making $250k from victims. The disturbing truth? Scammers don’t pick phone numbers at random. They buy your data from brokers.

Once your data is out there, it’s not just calls. It’s phishing, impersonation, and identity theft. That’s why we recommend Incogni: They delete your info from the web, monitor, and follow up automatically, and continue to erase data as new risks appear.
