Article Icon 1Tennessee Ranks Fifth in New Movers

U-Haul’s latest growth rankings place Tennessee 5th in new-mover numbers, following Florida, North Carolina, Texas, and South Carolina.

The rankings are based on over 2.5 million annual one-way transactions involving U-Haul trucks, trailers, and U-Box moving containers. Each state’s position reflects its net gain or loss of customers using U-Haul equipment.

According to the data, Nashville, Knoxville, Johnson City, and Cookeville are among the most popular destinations in Tennessee. Nashville ranked sixth among U-Haul’s fastest-growing metro areas, while Knoxville, which was seventh in 2024, did not make the 2025 list.

Gov. Bill Lee highlighted the results on social media: “As people continue to move to the Volunteer State in record numbers, we’re making the right investments to guarantee opportunity, security & freedom for every family & business that calls TN home.”

Article Icon 1BlueCross BlueShield Covid Vaccine Lawsuit

A federal judge ruled that BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee must pay over $687,000 to a woman it fired in 2022 for refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccine.

Tanja Benton, who worked at the company since 2005, made headlines in 2022 over her lawsuit that claimed that she refused to comply with the company’s vaccine requirement due to her religious beliefs.

The lawsuit also argued that Benton’s job was performed without regular contact with patients as part of her job as a biostatistical research scientist.

A jury sided with Benton in June, with the federal judge siding with the jury in the settlement over the longtime legal battle.
