Emergency crews are shifting their focus to preparing for cold temperatures and snow, following a weekend of flooding across many parts of the state.

The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) said it is working with state and local partners, while TDOT has been pretreating roads ahead of the storm. The agency warned that travel could become difficult over the next few days and urged residents to stay home if possible.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for parts of Middle Tennessee as significant snow is expected through Wednesday.

Montgomery County, one of the areas hardest hit by the recent flooding, is bracing for another round of winter weather along with the rest of the region.

Article Icon 1Children’s Theatre Buys Knoxville’s Foundry

The Knoxville Children’s Theatre has purchased the historic Foundry building for $4 million as part of a multimillion-dollar expansion plan.

Located next to World’s Fair Park, the acquisition had been in progress for several months.

Originally built by the Knoxville Iron Company in 1865, the building was converted into a German-style beer hall for the 1982 World’s Fair. For the past three decades, it has operated as an event and wedding venue.

Theatre leaders plan to renovate the 17,000-square-foot space, adding a main stage, a Black Box Theatre, and classrooms as part of a $12 million capital campaign. Watch a report here

A new report shared the state’s seven best-kept secret small towns, highlighting the contributions of communities often overlooked in Tennessee.

Among the favorites was Jonesborough, known for its National Storytelling Festival, along with being the state’s oldest town, founded in 1779.
