Article Icon 1Last Jail Escapee Captured in Nashville

The last of three inmates who escaped from the Madison County Jail was captured in Nashville on Sunday. Dillon Decker had been on the run since Sept. 14.

He was originally in jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of Schedule I, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, theft of property, evading arrest, aggravated assault, driving on a suspended license, and reckless driving.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office has tightened security at the jail and is continuing to investigate the escape.

Anytime that a door is open in the jail from central control, that’s time stamped, so we’re getting all that information and finding out who was on each post… If there was negligence on the part of one of our employees, the necessary action will be taken,” said Sheriff Julian Wiser.

The Tennessee Department of Human Services announced updates on Monday to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) work requirements for able-bodied adults without dependents due to the passage of HR 1 in July.

Now, these adults can only receive SNAP benefits for three months in a three-year period unless they work, volunteer, or participate in a job training program at least 20 hours a week.

Some exceptions apply, such as if the person is pregnant or caring for someone who is sick or disabled. See the full list of exceptions.

WorldAtlas recently released a list of the seven best historic districts in Tennessee, with Franklin’s topping the list due to its walkability.

As Tennessee’s oldest town, Jonesborough offers a “historic district (that) feels like a time capsule where colonial-era log cabins stand alongside brick townhouses and Victorian storefronts.”

Columbia and Greeneville have historic districts with ties to past presidents, while Granville, a former steamboat port, has been described as a “walkable open-air museum.”

Rounding out the list are Pulaski, which features the Trail of Tears Memorial Interpretive Center, and Fayetteville, where the historic district centers around the Lincoln County Courthouse.
