200-Gallon Diesel Spill Blocks I-24 Traffic

A commercial truck overturned Monday morning on westbound I-24 near Joelton, leaking about 200 gallons of diesel onto the road, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

The crash occurred around 8:45 a.m. near the Whites Creek Pike exit, forcing traffic to a single lane.

Cleanup crews are working to contain the spill, and both lanes may be shut down temporarily.

Monday’s spill marks the second diesel incident on I-24 in a week, as another truck carrying frozen bread crashed last Wednesday.

Fog Grounds Flights at Nashville Airport

Dense fog forced a temporary ground stop at Nashville International Airport Monday morning, delaying flights until shortly after 9 a.m., according to the FAA.

Low cloud ceilings made takeoffs and landings risky, prompting the halt in operations.

The advisory was expected to last until 9:30 a.m. but was lifted early as conditions improved.

Travelers may experience more delays on Tuesday morning, as patchy fog is again forecast.

The Nashville chapter of Mustaches for Kids launched its annual November fundraiser with a clean-shave event on Tuesday at Tailgate Brewing.

Participants will grow mustaches all month while raising money for two Middle Tennessee children’s charities: Williamson County CASA and the Transformation Life Center.
