Tennessee Ranked 3rd as U.S. Job Destination

Tennessee ranked as the third-highest destination in the U.S. for professionals migrating for new jobs, according to a report by the National Association of Realtors.

Leading the influx of new residents are professionals moving from nearby states, particularly Georgia and Florida, which together accounted for 22% of the migration. 

The report noted that Tennessee benefited from growing employment sectors, such as manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics, and noted the job-creation strength of Nashville and Memphis.

5,200 Households Get Helene Recovery Aid

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, East Tennessee has received millions of dollars in federal aid to help communities recover.

FEMA announced it had approved over $18.9 million in assistance for several counties, including Carter, Cocke, Greene, Hamblen, Hawkins, Johnson, Unicoi, and Washington.

The aid goes to support 5,207 households in the region, with more than $9.1 million allocated for housing assistance to provide temporary shelter.

FEMA also approved over $9.6 million for various other needs, including $4.3 million for “Serious Needs Assistance,” which covers essentials like water, first aid supplies, infant formula, diapers, hygiene products, and fuel.

Country Music Awards Announce Star Presenters

On Monday, Simone Biles, Jeff Bridges, Katharine McPhee, and others were announced as presenters at the 2024 CMA Awards on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

Additional presenters include Clint Black, Mark Collie, Jordan Davis, Reddie Freeman, Don Johnson, Jackson Laux, Little Big Town, Dustin Lynch, The Oak Ridge Boys, and Billy Bob Thornton.

On Thursday, the first wave of performers was announced, including Kelsea Ballerini, Jelly Roll, Luke Combs, and more. Tennessee football legend Peyton Manning is also slated to host the show alongside Lainey Wilson for the fourth year.
