Tennessee Teen Girl Survives Texas Floods

A Memphis girl has been found safe after devastating floods tore through Camp Mystic in Kerr County, Texas, last Friday.

Fourteen-year-old Mary Steele Gant, who has been attending the camp since 2019, was rescued by helicopter after being found in an elevated cabin, her father said.

The Gant family is now in San Antonio, waiting to retrieve their belongings as search efforts continue.

The floods killed at least 104 people, including 28 children, with at least 11 still missing.

Ag Secretary Opposes Cheatham Methane Plant

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins has publicly joined the fight against a proposed methane power plant in Cheatham County.

Rollins backed country singer John Rich, who’s been leading the charge against TVA’s plan to build the plant, in a social media post.

Residents worry about how the proposed ten acres of lithium batteries could affect local farms.

The TVA has yet to respond to Rollins’ comments.

Volunteers Save 10,000 Historic Photos

Volunteers in Sumner County have preserved over 10,000 glass plate negatives from the early 1900s, salvaging a treasure trove of local history.

The images, taken by photographer E. M. Stark, depict everyday life, from soldiers to schoolboys.

The project, led by the Sumner County Archives and the local Daughters of the American Revolution, involved meticulous cleaning and indexing to prevent the collection from being lost.
