Article Icon 1Partial SNAP Benefits Hit Tennessee Cards

Tennessee SNAP recipients are getting only 65 percent of their usual benefits for November, according to state officials.

The partial payments began hitting EBT accounts on Wednesday following a directive from the USDA, which cited the ongoing federal government shutdown.

Families scheduled to receive benefits between Nov. 1–12 should see funds now, while others will get their reduced amount on their regular dates.

Full payments are expected once the federal government reopens.

The northern lights lit up skies across East and Middle Tennessee Tuesday night thanks to a strong solar storm.

The rare southern display followed two coronal mass ejections from the sun, tied to its peak 11-year activity cycle.

Viewers reported seeing vibrant greens, purples, and reds, with many capturing the moment on long-exposure phone cameras. See photos here.

Forecasters say the aurora could return this week, best viewed from dark, rural areas before midnight.

Stan Hanback of Collinwood built a massive Veterans Day tribute in his front yard featuring more than 1,600 names, military uniforms, a replica fighter jet, and a donated Jeep.

The display, which took weeks to construct, honors service members and POWs, and has drawn visitors from across the region.

Hanback’s wife, Darlene, helped collect names and shared the project online, calling it a heartfelt salute to the military. See her posts here.

The couple has welcomed crowds all month, turning their yard into a small-town monument to sacrifice.

It sounds ridiculous at first, but when a top urologist noticed that astronauts almost never suffer from BPH, he started asking questions.

What he uncovered shocked him.

Turns out, the space station staff adds a special ingredient to their water.

It keeps the urinary system clean, powerful, and completely free of the toxic buildup that clogs men’s prostates as they age.

Turns out the same inexpensive ingredient can be used by men on Earth, too, and it works 10 times better than most prostate meds on the market.
