Article Icon 1ICE Facility Plan Scrapped In Lebanon

U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn said a proposed ICE detention center in Lebanon will not move forward after 24 of 25 Wilson County commissioners signed a resolution opposing it.

Blackburn said the Department of Homeland Security confirmed it is abandoning plans for the facility, which had been considered along the Highway 109 South corridor.

Local opposition included county commissioners, the sheriff, and the Lebanon mayor, who cited community and public safety concerns.

The facility had been discussed as potentially housing up to 16,000 detainees, making it one of the largest in the country. ICE has not publicly confirmed the decision.

A Georgetown woman says she found what appeared to be blood on a package delivered to her front door by the U.S. Postal Service.

Hollie Hogan said she contacted her local post office after spotting the substance and was told deliveries continue unless deemed unsafe.

The Postal Service said suspicious items are typically isolated and bagged before delivery, and customers can return packages or use precautions when opening them.

Social media users disagreed on whether the substance looked to be blood, with many attributing the stain to a sauce instead.

Tennesseans, including a 27-year-old Meharry Medical College student and a mission group, are sheltering in place in Mexico after cartel violence erupted during their trips.

Aimen Choudhary said she and her friends returned from a snorkeling trip to find smoke, burned vehicles, and helicopters overhead as Mexican forces carried out an operation targeting a cartel leader who was later killed in a shootout.

A 40-member mission group from Harrison-based Mexico Missions and Beyond is also stuck after being in the country for three weeks, building six churches.

Flights in and out of the region have been disrupted, leaving the stranded Tennesseans uncertain about their returns.

Silver’s Rise Can Make or Break Your Retirement

It has surged over 300% over the past 12 months.  It’s crucial to the AI revolution, but demand is far outstripping supply. It has become a go-to safe haven asset for global institutions, Wall Street investors, and everyday Americans as the economy becomes more unhinged. And before this current run-up, almost no one gave it a second thought.

Physical silver is quickly becoming the #1 commodity in the world. And now is your chance to benefit from it!

Retirement savings like 401(k)s and pension plans are growing increasingly vulnerable. A bursting stock bubble, a collapsing dollar, or one conflict halfway around the world can send your funds’ value plummeting.

You can protect that value with physical silver. Thanks to an IRS loophole, you can legally transfer the value of your 401(k), TSP, Pension, or IRA into physical silver and gold.

Silver is unique among commodities, with soaring demand from investors and industry. And its 6-year supply deficit gives price a solid floor and no ceiling. Bank of America said silver could break $300 this year. Don’t miss this opportunity to fortify your finances with vital physical assets.
