Article Icon 1 Blackburn Joins Governor’s Race

Sen. Marsha Blackburn announced on Wednesday that she’s running for governor of Tennessee in 2026, vowing to make the state “America’s conservative leader.”

In a video posted on social media, she leaned on her close alliance with President Trump, pledging to crack down on illegal immigration, limit federal influence in education, and uphold traditional gender roles in schools and sports.

Blackburn has represented Tennessee in the Senate since 2019 and would be the state’s first female governor if elected, but first she must face a GOP primary against Rep. John Rose.

Article Icon 1TN Ranks 44th in Health Care

Tennessee ranks 44th in the nation for overall health care quality, according to a new WalletHub report.

The study focused on cost, access, and outcomes, considering insurance coverage, provider availability, hospital wait times, and chronic disease rates.

The state scored particularly low in health outcomes (No. 48), due to high rates of stroke, heart disease, and maternal mortality. It also ranked next-to-last for dentists per capita, underscoring a significant shortage in access to basic care.

While Tennessee ranked 25th in health care costs, the state’s ongoing challenges in preventive care and provider shortages remain major barriers to improvement.

Johnson City was named the No. 1 city Americans want to move to in 2025 in a new report based on online moving searches.

With nearly four times as many people moving in as out, the area is drawing attention for its affordability and outdoor access. Zillow lists the average home value at $278,292—well below the national average.

Although remote work is slowing, interest in “Zoom Towns” like Johnson City and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, remains strong.
