Police Release Covenant School Shooting Report

Nashville police released their final report on the 2023 Covenant School shooting, finding the transgender shooter sought notoriety and was partly inspired by the 1999 Columbine massacre.

The 48-page report detailed the shooter’s motive and planning, as well as the events that unfolded after former student Audrey Hale entered the building and killed six people, including three children.

Authorities also concluded that Hale acted alone in the shooting and left no manifesto explaining the motive or choice of target, though a suicide note was found at the Hale family home.

Other documents found in the home revealed Hale’s original plan to attack a different middle school in 2018 before ultimately targeting the Covenant School.

More Measles Cases Confirmed

State health officials have confirmed four measles cases in Middle Tennessee—two in the Mid-Cumberland Region and two in the Upper Cumberland area.

The state’s first case was reported on March 21. Since then, three additional cases have been confirmed, including one directly linked to the original.

Nationwide, CDC data shows 483 measles cases have led to 70 hospitalizations and one child fatality. Tennessee has not reported any hospitalizations, though health officials are actively tracking potential exposures.

Severe Weather Returns, Again

Severe weather is expected to continue in Tennessee through Sunday with all modes of severe weather possible, including damaging winds, large hail, flooding, and tornadoes.

Rainfall will intensify today through the weekend, with the likelihood of flash flooding, especially in areas west of I-65 like Clarksville, Waverly, and Paris.

Western Tennessee is expected to bear the brunt of upcoming storms, with up to a foot of rain possible in Memphis and a potential tornado outbreak in surrounding regions.
