Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee warned SNAP recipients that they may face benefit delays starting Nov. 1 because of the ongoing federal government shutdown.

More than 690,000 Tennesseans rely on the food assistance program, but without congressional funding, payments could be stalled and new applications delayed.

Lee blamed congressional Democrats for the holdup, while urging nonprofits and churches to help fill the gap.

The state has no backup funds budgeted to cover the lapse.

Investigators say two victims remain unaccounted for two weeks after a massive explosion at the Accurate Energetic Systems munitions plant in McEwen.

Officials confirmed that 24,000–28,000 pounds of high explosives detonated on the first floor, destroying the facility and killing 16.

DNA testing has identified 14 victims so far, while investigators continue to process remains and sift evidence from the blast site.

The ATF identified the blast’s origin in production kettles, but said the cause remains under investigation.
