A 10-year-old in Mt. Juliet drove his mom’s car home from school after an argument, leading to a brief police search Friday afternoon.

The child reportedly took the vehicle while his mother was inside W.A. Wright Elementary, prompting fears of a car theft.

Officers found the car safely parked in the family’s garage a mile away; the boy was with his confused father, who had an outstanding warrant and was arrested.

The child won’t face charges due to age, but the case was referred to state child services.
