Grateful Memorial Day morning. On this day in 2013, Grace Grissom, founder of Nashville-based Mrs. Grissom’s Salads, passed away at the age of 95, leaving behind a legacy of grit and entrepreneurship cultivated by the post-WWII era.

Lady Vols Advance to WCWS

No. 7 seed Tennessee shutout Nebraska 1–0 in the Knoxville Super Regional Sunday, earning the Lady Vols their ninth trip to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.

Tennessee pitcher Karlyn Pickens, a two-time SEC Pitcher of the Year, struck out 10 and allowed just two hits, while Ella Dodge’s solo homer in the first provided the game’s only run.

Pickens also pitched Saturday, keeping the Lady Vols alive in the Super Regional by striking out 11 and breaking her own record with a 79.4 mph pitch in the first inning. See the record-breaking pitch here.
