Memphis International Airport is among 40 U.S. airports where the Federal Aviation Administration may reduce flights by 10% starting today due to a critical shortage of air traffic controllers during the ongoing federal shutdown.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed the cuts on Wednesday, citing safety concerns as key personnel continue working without pay.

Nashville International was not confirmed on the list, and officials there declined to comment.

The move is expected to increase delays statewide, especially in Memphis, a key freight and passenger hub.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee is calling on New York businesses to relocate following the election of progressive candidate Zohran Mamdani as New York City’s next mayor.

In a video posted on Tuesday, Lee touted Tennessee’s low taxes, limited regulation, and pro-law enforcement stance, saying the Volunteer State is “open for business.”

While he didn’t mention Mamdani by name, the message followed concerns from some New Yorkers over Mamdani’s platform, which includes higher taxes to fund expanded public services.

Tennessee has seen major company relocations in recent years and continues to promote itself as a haven for businesses fleeing high-tax states.
