Details Revealed in Antioch School Shooting

Police have obtained a 288-page online diary revealing that the 17-year-old Antioch High School shooter had planned to kill “at least 10 people” and intended to livestream the attack.

Solomon Henderson, who killed 16-year-old Josselin Corea Escalante before taking his own life Wednesday, expressed anti-Semitic views in his writings while also praising other mass shooters and sharing detailed plans of the school layout.

Law enforcement sources say Henderson may have been in contact with the social media account of a Wisconsin school shooter who attacked last month.

Investigators found that Henderson, who wrote that he “was ashamed to be Black,” had been expressing violent white supremacist beliefs while the school’s AI weapons detection system failed to spot the gun he brought to campus.

Power Demand Reaches All-Time Record

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) announced that it experienced its highest power demand ever, with a new record set on Wednesday morning after over 91 years of operation.

As temperatures dropped to single digits, the TVA reported a preliminary peak power demand of 35,319 megawatts at 8 a.m. The agency’s power system remained stable throughout the period.

The new high surpasses the previous record of 34,526 megawatts, which was set just last January.

In anticipation of the high demand, the TVA asked customers on Tuesday to conserve energy and reduce the strain on the power grid. Some schools closed due to power demand concerns. More details are available in this video report.

Family Dollar Rat Settlement

Tennessee will receive $1.125 million from Family Dollar’s record $41.6 million food safety settlement after Food and Drug Administration (FDA) inspectors found 3,400 rodents at the company’s West Memphis, Arkansas distribution center in 2022.

The rat infestation led to product recalls and the closure of over 400 stores across six states, including Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi.

Family Dollar, owned by Dollar Tree, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor violation after shipping potentially contaminated products from the infested facility.

The settlement is the nation’s largest-ever monetary criminal penalty in a food safety case.
