Tennessee’s Deputy Director of Communications confirmed that a printer failure may prevent some Tennesseans from receiving their requested Real ID ahead of the May 7 federal enforcement deadline.

The government printing facility has since returned to full production capacity, with the state projecting that delays should not extend beyond 20 business days.

Residents who don’t receive their updated ID in time should use their purchase receipt as an interim form of ID. Authorities say residents with questions or concerns should contact the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security.

The study’s authors said the study was based on five years of federal transportation data. Counties were ranked according to the number of fatal hit-and-run crashes per 100,000 residents.
