100+ Arrested in Memphis ICE Raid

Federal agents descended on El Corralón, a bar and restaurant in Memphis’ Berclair neighborhood, around 1 a.m. CT on Sunday in a large-scale immigration operation that advocates are calling the largest in city history.

The immigrant advocacy group Vecindarios 901 said more than 100 patrons and employees were detained and driven away on buses, a figure not independently confirmed by authorities.

ICE described it as a “multi-agency targeted enforcement operation” and released few details, while the TBI said agents executed a search warrant tied to an investigation into illegal gambling and drugs.

Mayor Paul Young said Memphis police didn’t plan or carry out the raid and were called only for traffic control, calling those affected “our neighbors.”

Super El Niño Could Shape Tennessee’s Winter

Forecasters say a rare ‘super El Niño’ is strengthening in the Pacific, a pattern that could shape Tennessee’s coming winter.

NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center now puts the odds of a very strong event this fall and winter above 90%, with a real chance it could rank among the strongest since record-keeping began in 1950.

Strong El Niño winters tend to steer the southern U.S. toward wetter, stormier, and sometimes cooler conditions, with the Southeast among the areas most likely to see above-normal precipitation.

For Tennessee, that can raise the odds of heavy rain, severe-weather setups, and wintry mixes of sleet and freezing rain when cold air arrives. Forecasters caution it’s still early, and El Niño is only one factor shaping the season.

Dolly Parton’s Estate Announces Dollyfest

Dolly Parton’s estate has announced Dollyfest, a two-day, two-continent celebration of the late star’s life set for two consecutive weekends in 2027, with Nashville chosen alongside London to host.

The estate says the festival, billed as “the party of a lifetime,” will stand in place of a traditional public memorial, which her manager, Danny Nozell, said isn’t something Parton wanted.

The event was originally planned as a multi-artist show for her 80th birthday in January, with Parton set to perform and host, before her health forced a step back.

Parton died last week at 80 after a brief battle with cancer and was laid to rest in a private service on Friday. Dates and the lineup for Dollyfest are still to come.
