Answer: The Arcade in downtown Nashville holds the title of Tennessee’s oldest mall, opening in 1903. Nashville businessman Daniel C. Buntin designed the covered shopping and business center after a similar structure in Milan, Italy, and successfully convinced nearby business owners that the arcade would revitalize what is now known as Arcade Alley in the heart of Music City.
