Article Icon 1 State Budget Proposal Released

Tennessee lawmakers and Gov. Bill Lee have officially released the negotiated $58.3 billion state budget proposal for fiscal year 2027.

After much debate, $145 million will be allocated to K-12 schools, which includes money to fulfill the 2023 Teacher Paycheck Protection Act, which raises the starting teacher salary to $50,000 a year.

Budget line items for road work and education include $40 million in non-recurring funds for bridge reconstruction on Zinc Plant Road in Montgomery County and $11 million for an ALS research center at Vanderbilt University.

The final budget also includes adding 50 new state trooper positions, renovating all Tennessee welcome and rest centers, and allocating $83 million to move the Tennessee National Guard base from Berry Field to make room for a second terminal at Nashville International Airport.

College students who participate in walkouts could face suspension or expulsion under a measure the Tennessee General Assembly passed this week. The legislation also prohibits schools from disinviting speakers based on their beliefs or in response to student protests.

We want to be the gold standard for having public colleges and universities that are known to be neutral when it comes to divisive political and social issues,” said bill sponsor Rep. Gino Bulso, R-Franklin.

The bill is named after conservative Christian activist Charlie Kirk, who lawmakers said frequented college and university campuses to encourage debate and discussion. Kirk was assassinated last September.

The bill now heads to the governor’s desk for a signature.

Article Icon 1Nashville Resident Stars in ‘Jury Duty’

Anthony Norman, a 26-year-old father from Nashville, had no idea he was the only real person on Amazon Prime’s Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat—a hidden-camera show built entirely around him.

Norman took the gig through a temp agency to fit around his week-on, week-off schedule with his son, only to spend a week navigating zany actors playing his “colleagues” at a family hot sauce company’s retreat.

In the finale, he sprinted across camp and physically stopped a contract signing to protect his fake coworkers—not knowing cameras were rolling the whole time.

The AI Bottleneck is No Longer Chips, It’s Electricity

The biggest names in tech are converging on Texas, as Oracle, Google, Amazon, and Meta all build massive AI data centers.

They’re not alone either. In 2026, 140 will break ground in Texas alone. But this need for massive amounts of always-on power creates major strain on the grid.

American PowerGen is ready. Led by a team with $5B+ worth of previous power project acquisitions, they specialize in getting these difficult projects off the ground, fast.

This year, they’ll break ground on a project set to supply enough energy to power 3M homes. By 2028, they plan to scale capacity 3X+.

They’ve already turned down multiple acquisition offers. Don’t wait to join. Share in American PowerGen’s growth as an early-stage investor today to unlock guaranteed bonus stock.
