President Trump visited Memphis yesterday to highlight the Memphis Safe Task Force, saying it has led to a sharp drop in violent crime, with promises that the city could be “virtually crime-free” within months. 

During a roundtable with officials, including Gov. Bill Lee, leaders pointed to a reported 43% drop in serious crime tied to the effort.

Trump also made a stop at Graceland, where he signed a guitar and named Hurt as his favorite song by the legendary singer while touring the mansion.

The visit drew both local support and demonstrations as debates over the task force continue.

Article Icon 1Man Arrested After BNA Outburst

A 38-year-old man was arrested at Nashville International Airport after a string of incidents late Friday night and early Saturday morning.

Police say he refused to pay a taxi fare, attempted to strike the driver, and later took over an airport PA system to shout profanities at TSA agents. 

Officers took him into custody after the early-morning disturbance and charged him with disorderly conduct.

Authorities noted the man had a history of mental illness and had missed his flight prior to the incident.

Tennessee beat Virginia 79-72 in Philadelphia to reach its fourth straight Sweet 16, powered by Ja’Kobi Gillespie’s 21 points and clutch free throws late in the game. 

Bishop Boswell added 13 points and nine assists, while Nate Ament scored 16, including key free throws in the final minutes.

The Vols overcame a late Virginia surge, where the Cavaliers briefly took the lead inside the final two minutes, before Tennessee closed it out at the line.

Tennessee, now 24-11, advances to face No. 2 seed Iowa State in the Midwest Regional semifinal in Chicago as March Madness continues.
