A Southwest Airlines flight from Nashville to Fort Lauderdale was diverted Friday night to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport after a reported security concern.

Passengers were ordered to keep their heads down and hands raised while officers boarded and removed one man from the plane.

Flight 2094 landed safely around 9:06 p.m., and Atlanta police removed a passenger described by the airline as “in question.”

The FBI determined the passenger was speaking in his native language and it was nothing threatening—no charges will be filed.

Former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem spoke at a law enforcement conference in Nashville on Thursday, moments after President Donald Trump announced her removal from the post.

She delivered the remarks at the Sergeant Benevolent Association Major Cities Conference as the leadership shakeup unfolded. Noem later said she will serve as special envoy for the “Shield of the Americas,” a role focused on combating drug cartels.

Trump named Oklahoma Sen. Markwayne Mullin as the next DHS secretary, with the change set to take effect March 31.

Article Icon 1Oryx on the Loose in Joelton

Drivers near Joelton got a surprise this week when an African oryx, a large antelope with long, straight horns, was spotted darting into traffic.

One commuter said he slammed on his brakes before realizing the animal wasn’t a goat, but a rare antelope that likely escaped from a nearby exotic animal farm.

After multiple sightings, two Cheatham County residents located a loose oryx in a field between Highway 12 and the Cumberland River, watched it overnight while providing corn and water, and alerted officials before the owners safely captured the antelope early Saturday.

Though surprising to see on a morning commute, oryx are legal to own in Tennessee.
