Article Icon 1Lawsuit Challenges TN School Vouchers

A group of Tennessee parents and taxpayers, backed by the ACLU, filed a lawsuit aiming to halt the state’s new Education Freedom Scholarship program.

Launched in the 2025–26 school year, the initiative gives families the option to use public funds for private school tuition, expanding educational choices beyond zip code-assigned schools.

The lawsuit claims the program violates the state constitution by funding alternatives to traditional public schools.

Supporters argue it’s a common-sense step toward empowering parents and improving outcomes in a system long plagued by underperformance.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell called Nashville a “Super Bowl-ready city” during Friday’s topping-out ceremony for the new $2.1 billion Nissan Stadium, set to open in 2027.

Goodell praised the city’s performance hosting the 2019 NFL Draft and said the new stadium is the missing “stage” for landing the league’s biggest event.

Tennessee has invested $1.2 billion in public funding toward the project, signaling strong local and state backing.

With construction ahead of schedule and a formal bid committee in place, Nashville is firmly in the running for a future Super Bowl.

Park rangers and city crews completed two successful bear rescues in the Smokies in recent weeks.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park shared photos of an October rescue in which crews tranquilized a young black bear stuck on a steep embankment and airlifted it with the help of a backhoe.

Then, early Friday, a 375-pound bear was spotted atop Ripley’s Motion Blaster in Gatlinburg—officers used a bucket truck to bring it down safely and release it back into the wild.
