Article Icon 1Judge Blocks Memphis Guard Deployment

A Tennessee court has ruled that Gov. Bill Lee overstepped his authority by sending the National Guard into Memphis without a formal emergency or local request.

The temporary injunction halts the deployment, part of a Trump-backed task force, after a suit from Shelby County officials and state Democrats challenged its legality.

The judge found no legal grounds for the military surge.

The state plans to appeal, as Republican leaders argue the Guard helped drive down crime, and the court’s move endangers public safety.

AAA expects a record 1.9 million Tennesseans to travel over Thanksgiving, with most hitting the road between Nov. 25 and Dec. 1.

That’s a 1.9% bump from last year, part of a nationwide surge to 81.8 million travelers.

Roughly 1.8 million Tennesseans will drive, while just 51,000 will fly—likely due to concerns over flight delays and cancellations.

AAA says folks are prioritizing family time and showing flexibility, even as airports brace for holiday crowds.

A black-and-white cat stuck atop a Memphis utility pole for three days was safely rescued Monday by a Memphis Light, Gas, and Water crew. See a video here.

After public outcry and safety concerns over nearby live wires, power was cut, and contractors used a bucket truck to reach the animal.

The cat, now recovering at a vet, is set to be adopted by an MLGW staffer. He’s already been nicknamed Volt.

Unknown Number Calling? It’s Not Random.

The BBC caught scam call center workers on hidden cameras laughing at the people they were scamming. One even bragged about making $250K off victims. The disturbing truth? Scammers don’t dial numbers at random—they buy your data from brokers.

Once your info is out there, it’s not just annoying calls. It opens the door to phishing, impersonation, and even identity theft. That’s why we recommend Incogni. They delete your personal data from the web, follow up with data brokers automatically, and continue monitoring as new threats pop up.
