Question: Who was the first Tennessean in outer space?

Answer: Dr. Margaret Rhea Seddon, a Murfreesboro native, made history as the first Tennessean in space in 1985. She competed against 8,000 applicants for a place in NASA’s first group of astronauts to include women. See her photo here.
