Article Icon 1BNA Tower Goes Dark Amid Shutdown

The air traffic control tower at Nashville International Airport went dark Tuesday night from 7 p.m. to midnight due to staffing shortages caused by the federal government shutdown.

It’s the second major tower closure this week, following the one in Burbank, California.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is rerouting pilots through Memphis and scaling back flight operations nationwide as over 2,400 flights were delayed Tuesday and nearly 90 were canceled.

Transportation officials warn that the crisis is straining already short-staffed airports and risking passenger safety if the shutdown continues.

Sevierville is severing ties with the Slammedenuff car show after city officials stated that the event overwhelmed local resources and led to public safety issues.

Mayor Robbie Fox announced Monday the show won’t be invited back, following a weekend that saw an estimated 250,000 attendees, 30 arrests, and 118 citations.

The final day of the event was canceled Saturday night due to crowd concerns.

Local residents cheered the decision, with police in nearby Pigeon Forge noting they handled nearly 1,400 calls for service throughout the event.

Article Icon 1Viral TikTok Post Pressures Landlord to Act

A Nashville renter says it took a viral TikTok video to get her apartment complex to act after weeks of living under a torn-up ceiling due to a persistent leak.

Hailey Gilliland, who lived at Modera Gulch, said management delayed repairs, denied rent relief, and ignored her until her posts gained traction online. See Hailey’s full interview here.

After public pressure, the complex allowed her to break her lease penalty-free.

Tennessee law requires repairs to be made within a “reasonable time,” but many viewers said her story reflects a wider problem with pricey rentals and poor upkeep.

The Recipe for 2,700% Growth

There’s a major shift taking place in the $282B craft beer market. Once dominated by distribution, approximately 75% of today’s businesses operate taprooms and brewpubs, prioritizing the customer experience.

It’s no secret why. They’re outperforming distribution-focused models. However, one startup is proving there’s another way, utilizing brewpubs to drive 2,700% distribution growth, and investors are taking notice.

Meet Westbound & Down. Their team redefines craft brewpubs with world-class brewing talent and Michelin Star backgrounds. That approach has earned over 20 prestigious awards, a partnership with Whole Foods, and distribution across more than 900 accounts.

A new flagship Denver brewpub is on the way. Now, they’re letting investors share in their growth as they work to scale distribution 4X by 2028.
