Delta Jet Slams Brakes to Avoid Crash

A Delta Air Lines flight narrowly avoided a collision at Nashville International Airport after a small plane crossed into its path during takeoff.

The Airbus A321, bound for Minneapolis, made a sudden stop after air traffic control canceled clearance upon spotting a Piper Cherokee entering into the runway.

The incident marks the second close call in under a year at BNA involving emergency stops to prevent runway crashes.

The Federal Aviation Administration is currently investigating.

Sumner Co. Halts Transgender Books Policy

A proposed policy to limit taxpayer-funded books with transgender-related content in Sumner County libraries failed last week after a divided vote.

The policy, aimed at removing materials seen as promoting gender confusion ideology to minors, was voted down after weeks of public discussion.

Supporters framed the measure as fiscal stewardship, while critics called it censorship.

1796 Farm Hosts Signing of Landmark Law

Gov. Bill Lee visited Rocky Field Farm in Greene County—established the same year as Tennessee itself—for a ceremonial signing of the Farmland Preservation Act.

The new law sets aside $25 million to help Tennessee farmers protect their land through permanent conservation easements.

The farm, dating back to 1796, has shifted its operations several times over the generations, producing everything from tobacco to beef.

Owner Wayne Hughes has worked to reunite and preserve the original acreage, calling it “an honor and a privilege” to host the event on land so steeped in history.
