The U.S. Small Business Administration is now offering low-interest disaster loans to Tennesseans affected by April’s severe storms and flooding.

Residents and businesses in nine primary counties can apply for both physical damage and economic injury loans following a federal disaster declaration last week.

Homeowners may borrow up to $500,000 for property repairs, while businesses can seek up to $2 million to cover losses.

Applications also support storm mitigation efforts, like installing safe rooms or wind-rated upgrades.

Country star and Grammy winner Maren Morris served ice cream in Nashville’s Gulch on Tuesday to support Second Harvest Food Bank.

Partnering with Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, Morris launched a new orange-vanilla flavor, Dreamsicle, named after her latest album.

Proceeds from the event will support efforts to fight hunger—a mission Morris says was inspired by Second Harvest’s pandemic response

The limited-time flavor is still available at Van Leeuwen’s Gulch and Edgehill locations.

Dear readers,

We started The Tennessee Flyover because we know that many Tennesseans prefer unbiased, fact-based reporting instead of the biased “journalism” forced on consumers by most broadcast, cable, and print legacy media outlets.

Over 56,000 readers (and growing) have signed on this past year, helping us build one of the largest news publications in Tennessee. We cover the headlines calmly and fairly, and at no cost to you.

I hope you enjoy The Tennessee Flyover as much as we enjoy bringing it to you every morning. If you like what we do and you value our work, we’d like to ask for your support to help us continue to grow.

Would you consider making a donation to support our work?  For some $15 or $30 is a sacrificial gift. Others can chip in $50 or even $100 to support fair, unbiased journalism.

I know some of you are on fixed incomes and can’t easily contribute, but any amount will help us continue to thrive and succeed. If you can, please chip in below.
